Lourdes
Regardless being a Catholic or not, Lourdes is in an incredible place. Disabled and sick pilgrimage come to Lourdes from all over the world praying to be granted a miracle from the Virgin Mary. Many miracles did happen in the past, but the main miracle is the atmosphere that surrounds this southern French small town. The sanctuary is in the center of city and is surrounded by hospitals and some of them are even inside. These hospitals are usually used for the pilgrimage that are in need of assistance while in Lourdes. The main site is however the cave where the Holy Mary appeared and just walking by it gives a very energetic feeling, as a true power beyond our comprehension lifts us. At night when the sanctuary gets illuminated by small candles and the peregrines sing all together in perfect harmony, in different languages, then the miracle is complete, boundaries, sick and healthy, are all one thing as the world should be.
Besides the religious aspect Lourdes is a very lovely town, with many cafes and hotels. It's really worth spending a couple of days there, it is something different, and yet very normal as the city does business as usual. It can actually be very refreshing to go and have a family trip, to revitalize the spiritual part of each family member, and yet do some tourism. Many non believers go to Lourdes and still get unexpected vibes, as the miracle goes, somehow changing people or at least living them with something that haven't felt before.
